Bought this doll high chair at a Doll Fair recently, reminds me of one I had as a child. Perfect for my old Patsy doll with some Jubilee ribbon on her hat and collar and a flag to wave. Also had some old 1937 Coronation stickers to place on the tray and a small Charles and Diana cup for Patsy not to mention a small bunny with pink ears to match Patsy's outfit. I amaze myself sometimes with the things I have hidden away.
Another rare item, this is a tea set from the coronation of Edward VII in 1902 in near perfect condition the only damage is the to the lid of the teapot. The large bowl in front is a slop bowl and these were popular with tea sets of that era. I think you tipped the dregs of your teacup in then you could have another cup of tea. There are no makers marks underneath, this was common at that time.
Australia, Canada, India and Cape Colony are all pictured on the plates. South Africa was called Cape Colony at that time. The 2 large plates at the back would be sandwich or cake plates. To survive 120 years in that condition is amazing.
My latest cross stitch is a change from Royal Designs but I like it and felt like stitching something different. Another Teresa Gil design and I bought the small doll in London.
A friend gave me this chair and at last this poor neglected bear has a permanent place to sit. His years of being moved aside are over.
Well I did have a pic. of the whole piece of Coronation fabric I wanted to show as I am so thrilled with it but it disappeared, maybe next time. The fabric even has the GOLD COACH on it
So many beautiful items I can't pick a favourite. The tea set so lovely and in such good condition
ReplyDeletemaybe. But then I love the whole set up of the doll in the high chair oh and the bear in that chair. Your cross stitch is outstanding as usual and the coronation material a great find.
Love it all.
The tea set is great, 120 years old! Patsy has found her home and bear too. As always your stitching looks fantastic, lovely pieces. A lucky find with the fabric. Susan
