King Charles III celebrates His 74th Birthday Today

Happy Birthday to King Charles III. 74 today 14th November. Above is a lovely embroidered sampler stitched (not by me) to celebrate his birth in 1948.
A large Toby Jug made by Royal Doulton in 2008 to celebrate the 60th birthday of the then Prince Charles.
A very young Charles on a Royal Albert plate and a mug to celebrate to celebrate the Investiture of Charles becoming Prince of Wales in 1969.
King Charles and Queen Camilla at the time of their wedding in 2005 pictured on a very nice bag.

Most of my souvenirs of Charles include Diana, I think I have done well to find a few very nice ones of Charles and Camilla.

Coronation Tea Set, Fabric and More

Blogger as usual decides the order of my pics so I'll start here.

Bought this doll high chair at a Doll Fair recently, reminds me of one I had as a child. Perfect for my old Patsy doll with some Jubilee ribbon on her hat and collar and a flag to wave. Also had some old 1937 Coronation stickers to place on the tray and a small Charles and Diana cup for Patsy not to mention a small bunny with pink ears to match Patsy's outfit. I amaze myself sometimes with the things I have hidden away.

A beautiful and rare piece of Coronation fabric I bought on eBay from America. Could be Damask and it has a backing so think it might have been part of a curtain The fabric measures 7' x4' or 214x122 cm. Some parts are not in good condition and I took a risk and washed it - in the bath as it was so heavy.
Another rare item, this is a tea set from the coronation of Edward VII in 1902 in near perfect condition the only damage is the to the lid of the teapot. The large bowl in front is a slop bowl and these were popular with tea sets of that era. I think you tipped the dregs of your teacup in then you could have another cup of tea. There are no makers marks underneath, this was common at that time.
Australia, Canada, India and Cape Colony are all pictured on the plates. South Africa was called Cape Colony at that time. The 2 large plates at the back would be sandwich or cake plates. To survive 120 years in that condition is amazing.

My latest cross stitch is a change from Royal Designs but I like it and felt like stitching something different. Another Teresa Gil design and I bought the small doll in London.

Finished this pretty design and love all the little pearls stitched in. A design by Maria Diaz and featured in Cross Stitch magazine.
A friend gave me this chair and at last this poor neglected bear has a permanent place to sit. His years of being moved aside are over.

Well I did have a pic. of the whole piece of Coronation fabric I wanted to show as I am so thrilled with it but it disappeared, maybe next time. The fabric even has the GOLD COACH on it

Home from the Platinum Jubilee Trip To London

My photos are out of order but that is only what blogger and my computer allows so please persevere.

First is my latest Jubilee cross stitch, just started. A pretty design with lots of bead work by Maria Diaz.

My cross stitch of The Queen By Andy Warhol. In London I was lucky enough to see the real painting,  signed by Andy W. I think my cross stitch is a near perfect copy

A new addition to my family above. Please meet Little Ted. Here she is in my carry on luggage ready for the long flight home. Little Ted is a Merrythought bear Made in England same as Big Ted.

I dressed Little Ted as a Jubilee bear as the souvenirs for the Jubilee were few and not that nice so L.Ted is a very welcome addition.
Big Ted has made Little Ted very welcome. Big Ted shares a birthday with me in August he/she will be 66 years old. I of course am a good bit older.

Here is the real painting signed by Any Warhol, seeing this was one of the many highlights of my trip.

Here I am in the Mall at 5.30 am claiming my spot with my little stool at the ready. Soon the crowds came and it was hard to move. The crowd was friendly and I had some great conversations while waiting for the Trooping of The Colour and a friendly watcher took my photo.

Off to London For The Jubilee

I leave in a few days and arrive in London in time for the celebrations. The most important one is the Trooping of The Colour in the Mall. You can see I am ready with a small stool, a flag to wave and supplies including an emergency raincoat with hood to keep me alert while I wait a few hours for the parade to start. The small items next to the water bottle are chocolates, mustn't eat them yet.
Had hoped to finish this cross stitch but it will be waiting for me when I return.
This one is finished and on the wall. Sadly I can't sew on the flight or even knit. I have a good book to read and hope the movies on the flight are good. Both samplers are Teresa Gil designs.

Teresa Gil Platinum Jubilee Cross Stitch

Congratulations to H.R.H Queen Elizabeth II on reaching such an historic Jubilee on 6th February. To celebrate Teresa Gil has released her latest cross stitch design. I love it and can't wait to put the first stitches in. This design is called a life in service.
